Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Professional Coding Specialist to review and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes for physician services. This fully remote position emphasizes compliance with CMS, NCCI Edits, and payer policies while collaborating with providers and revenue cycle teams.

You should have 1–3+ years of physician-based coding experience, CPC or CCS credentials, and strong knowledge of coding guidelines. Remote work setup and adherence to HIPAA are required.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding guidelines.
• Experience interpreting complex medical documentation and applying coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Enter coded and abstracted information into the coding system.
• Assign APC, E/M, ICD-10-CM, CPT, or chargemaster codes to clinic visits.
• Ensure documentation supports the codes and correct any coding edits.
• Identify and resolve NCCI edits before final billing.
• Report documentation insufficiencies to the responsible physician.
• Maintain knowledge of coding guidelines and organizational policies.
