Ideal candidates hold AHIMA/AAPC credentials and 2+ years of ER coding experience, with strong Excel and EMR skills. A high school diploma is required, and ongoing certification maintenance is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AHIMA and/or AAPC professional coder certification must be maintained annually.
• Minimum 2+ years of ICD-10, CPT, facility charging experience and modifiers.
• 2+ years ER coding experience.
• Experience with Windows PC, Excel, and various EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate ICD-10, CPT and modifiers for facility services per guidelines.
• Maintain coding accuracy and productivity per QM guidelines.
• Understand APC codes and NCCI policies as they apply.
• Query physicians when needed and stay current with coding updates.
• Participate in departmental meetings and educational events.
