Job summary

California Mental Health Services Authority is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer - Learning Experience Design to design and deliver innovative learning solutions across behavioral health, training, and organizational development. The role includes hands-on development from discovery through evaluation and requires collaboration with SMEs and program partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Four (4) or more years of instructional design or related experience.
• Experience designing healthcare, compliance, behavioral health, or regulatory training materials.
• Experience with LMS administration, course configuration, and learning paths.
• Experience designing across multiple modalities: eLearning, instructor‑led, synchronous, asynchronous, blended.

Responsibilities

• Assess learner needs and design effective solutions.
• Translate complex clinical content into plain-language materials.
• Develop objectives, storyboards, activities, and assessments.
• Create learning blueprints and design packages for developers.
• Build eLearning modules, ILT materials, videos, and blended learning.
• Prepare courses for LMS delivery and SCORM packaging.
• Ensure adherence to accessibility and usability standards.
• Coordinate projects with Director and team members.
• Design evaluation measures and use data to improve learning solutions.
