Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to work on high-voltage transmission line design projects (46kV–345 kV) for a major electric utility. The role involves applying NESC/ASCE/ACI standards, performing engineering analyses, drafting plans, and preparing procurement and construction documents.

The position is 100% remote based in Michigan's Lower Peninsula with regular site visits; candidates in the Lower Peninsula, Northern Indiana, and Toledo area are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and minimum of eight (8) years of prior relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems.
• Experience reviewing full transmission line designs including PLS-CADD models, foundations, material, plan and profiles, and construction packages.
• Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements; construction specifications; material procurement process; project schedules; and construction work packages.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.
• Ability to work effectively in team environment but also able to work independently.
• Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Design of HV overhead and underground transmission lines from 46kV to 345 kV.
• Prepare bidding documents, plans and specifications, and procurement/construction documents.
• Collaborate with Leidos team and client personnel including planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management.
