Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to join a dynamic team working on high-voltage (HV) overhead and underground transmission line design from 46kV to 345kV for a major utility. The role requires applying NESC, ASCE, ACI, and other standards, performing analyses, drafting plans and specifications, and generating material procurement and construction documents.

Remote work with site visits in Michigan and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and at least eight years of experience designing electric utility transmission systems.
• Knowledge of NESC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements; construction specs and procurement processes.
• Ability to develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.
• Strong communication with clients and project teams; capable of independent work.

Responsibilities

• Engineer on HV transmission line design projects for overhead and underground systems (46kV–345kV).
• Apply standards, perform analyses, and prepare bidding documents, plans, specs, and construction docs.
• Coordinate with Leidos team, interface with clients, planners, environmental, and construction management personnel.
• Travel to client sites as needed and support multiple projects.
