Job summary

Blattner is seeking a Lead Controls Engineer to drive design quality and innovation across wind, solar, BESS, and gas projects. You will act as the overall SCADA and controls architect, leading cross-functional teams and ensuring robust design development from pre-award through commissioning.

The role focuses on translating electrical constraints into software requirements, coordinating with Owners, EOR teams, and vendors, and upholding Blattner's standards across multiple technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college required.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or master’s degree in engineering is preferred.
• Eight+ years of progressive engineering and/or engineering supervisory experience in related energy/construction industry.
• Experience leading engineers and driving technical standards in controls, SCADA, and systems integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls engineering lifecycle from pre-award development through design delivery, simulation, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and closeout.
• Define control/data contracts between facility energy controller and third-party plant controllers.
• Define sequences of operation for facility energy controller including normal operation and emergency shedding.
• Specify point maps, interlocks, and constraint classes; oversee prototype integrations, tests, FAT, and SAT.
• Translate electrical constraints into software requirements and vice versa for vendor acceptance.
• Lead coordination with Owners, EOR teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders across all project phases.
• Mentor and coach Senior Engineers and staff; drive consistency in designs across projects.
