Job summary

Pearson is seeking language scorers to remotely evaluate responses from teacher candidates for New York and Illinois. The role offers a starting rate and requires relevant language credentials plus ability to work remotely from the United States.

Qualified applicants include those with teaching credentials, college degrees in a language field, or native/fluent speakers with a degree. Training precedes scoring, with sessions Mon–Fri and periodic opportunities throughout the year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Current teaching certification in the language and have taught in schools within the last three years.
  • Educators from colleges with a degree in a content-relevant field and have taught or advised in the last three years.
  • Native or fluent speaker of the language and holds a college degree.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate responses to test questions by Illinois and New York teacher candidates.
  • Internalize scoring standards and engage in consensus scoring with other scorers.
  • Recognize and discuss bias (e.g., implicit, cultural, leniency, halo) and apply strategies to reduce bias in scoring.
  • Meet quality and productivity requirements, including passing a qualifying test before scoring.
