Job summary

Pearson is seeking remote language scoring specialists to evaluate candidate responses for Illinois and New York teacher licensing programs. The role offers an hourly rate with remote sessions two to three times yearly, designed for flexible scheduling.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher and a current teaching certification in the target language, with recent teaching experience or related content expertise. Eligible to work in the United States is required.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher and current teaching certification in the language.
  • Teaching or advising in content-relevant field within the last three years.
  • Native or fluent speaker with a college degree.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate responses to test questions by Illinois and New York teacher candidates.
  • Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring.
  • Recognize and discuss bias types and apply strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring.
  • Meet quality and productivity requirements, including passing a qualifying test before scoring.
