Job summary

Pearson is seeking qualified language scorers to evaluate written responses from teacher candidates. This remote role supports scoring sessions in multiple languages for New York and Illinois programs.

Eligible candidates include educators or native speakers with a relevant degree, current teaching credentials, or active/prior teaching experience. Works remotely with weekly rhythm and non-benefits eligibility noted.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree or higher, and a current teaching certification in the language you are applying for, and you are currently teaching or have taught in schools (public or private) within the last three years (including regular substitutes).
• Or educators from colleges with a degree in a content-relevant field and/or have taught or advised in a content-relevant field within the last three years.
• Or a native or fluent speaker of the language (read, write, and speak) who holds a college degree.
• Both active and recently retired practitioners can be eligible to score.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate responses to test questions by Illinois and New York teacher candidates.
• Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities.
• Recognize and discuss various types of bias and effect strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring.
• Meet quality and productivity requirements established for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test before scoring.
