Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks a Laboratory Genetic Counselor to support Select Health and the Genetic Laboratory Stewardship Program. The role combines independent work with team collaboration to develop, implement, and quality-review clinical genetic testing.

The position can be fully remote, hybrid, or in-person, with a 40-hour week. Key duties include reviewing pre-authorization requests, educating providers on testing options and billing, and participating in research with manuscript

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program.
• Eligibility for ABGC certification by hire; certification within 1 year.
• Licensed as Genetic Counselor in the state of practice (Utah).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Review genetic testing pre-authorization requests and medical coverage policies.
• Educate ordering providers on genetic testing options, insurance, billing, results, and management.
• Provide patient education and counseling on genetic test options or results as needed.
• Conduct utilization review to ensure proper test ordering and manage complex cases.
• Participate in research projects and prepare manuscripts for publication.
