Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Laboratory Genetic Counselor to support Select Health contract work and the Genetic Laboratory Stewardship Program. The role involves both independent work and team collaboration to develop, implement, and review clinical genetic testing.

The position can be fully remote, hybrid, or in-person, with a 40-hour work week and competitive benefits. Candidates must hold a Master’s in Genetic Counseling, be ABGC-eligible, and licensed in Utah.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program.
• Eligibility for ABGC certification by time of hire with certification within 1 year.
• Licensed as Genetic Counselor in state of practice (Utah).
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience reading and critically evaluating scientific literature.
• Experience with PowerPoint, word processing, spreadsheets, database, internet and email.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review genetic testing pre-authorization requests, appeals, and medical coverage policies.
• Educate ordering providers on genetic testing options, insurance, billing, results and management.
• Provide occasional patient education and counseling on genetic test options or results.
• Conduct utilization review to ensure proper test ordering and manage complex cases.
• Participate in research projects and prepare manuscripts for journals.
