Job summary

American Rivers is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to support the Finance and Accounting team in ensuring GAAP-aligned and timely recording of transactions. The role covers A/P, A/R, general ledger, reconcilations, and compliance with IRS/OMB regulations.

The position is remote across a wide U.S. region, with a compensation range of $52,600–$64,200 annually based on experience and qualifications. A comprehensive rewards package is offered for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Internship or relevant coursework experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices with proper approvals and coding.
• Maintain vendor records and W-9s; ensure compliance.
• Record and reconcile grant reimbursements and receivables.
• Prepare journal entries and assist month/year-end close.
• Support audits and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.
