American Rivers is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to support the Finance & Accounting team in a remote capacity. The role focuses on AP, AR, GL, and compliance, ensuring transactions are GAAP-compliant and timely.

The position emphasizes collaboration with a distributed team, meticulous record-keeping, and adherence to IRS and OMB guidelines while supporting audits and grant reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required or desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for remote work.
• Self-motivation, initiative, and ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate with dispersed colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices with proper approvals and coding.
• Maintain vendor documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls.
• Record and reconcile grant reimbursements and donor contributions.
• Prepare journal entries and assist month-end closing.
• Support audits and grant reconciliations; ensure GAAP compliance.
• Handle 1099 reporting and related regulatory requirements.
