Job summary

American Rivers is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to support the Finance and Accounting team in a remote role across multiple states. The position emphasizes GAAP adherence, efficient transaction recording, and strong internal controls while contributing to grant and donor accounting efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required or preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe software; attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices with proper approvals and coding.
• Record and reconcile accounts receivable, including grant reimbursements and donor contributions.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closings.
• Perform regular bank reconciliations and reconcile credit card/GL accounts.
• Prepare Form 1099-NEC/MISC and support audits and reporting.
