Job summary

American Rivers is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to support the Finance & Accounting team in maintaining GAAP-compliant records and timely processing of transactions. This role is remote with responsibilities spanning AP, AR, GL, and compliance duties.

The position requires a degree in Accounting/Finance, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a distributed team. Compensation is competitive with for-profit market practices, including standard benefits and paid

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Experience working in remote environments and GAAP knowledge.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices with accurate coding and approvals.
• Maintain vendor files, W-9s, contracts, and tax IDs.
• Record and reconcile grant reimbursements and receipts.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close.
• Support audits and regulatory reporting, including 1099s.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and adherence to IRS/OMB guidelines.
