Job summary

NEOGOV is seeking a Software Architect to serve as the primary technical authority for the HRIS product domain. You will define standards, patterns, and roadmaps to keep the platform scalable, secure, and compliant.

You will partner with Product Management and the Director of Engineering to align technical capabilities with business goals, mentor architects and senior engineers, and drive strategic decisions across five teams in a remote-friendly, enterprise SaaS environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Java development experience with architectural leadership in enterprise-scale SaaS environments.
• Ability to lead the technical direction of a product domain, making high-stakes architectural decisions independently.
• Deep expertise in Distributed Systems, Microservices, and Event-Driven Design at an enterprise scale.
• Expert-level knowledge of Spring Boot 3.x and Java 17/21+, with a focus on enterprise-wide patterns and system scalability.
• Strong expertise in Oracle RDBMS and PL/SQL.
• Exceptional ability to influence and align multiple engineering teams and stakeholders without being hands-on daily.
• Proven experience migrating legacy monolithic applications toward modern architectural patterns (Microservices, Strangler Fig, SOA).
• Knowledge of Angular frontend frameworks to ensure cohesive full-stack architectural alignment.
• Experience defining AWS infrastructure strategy (ECS, RDS, Lambda) using Terraform.
• Knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC and multi-tenant isolation patterns for sensitive HR data.
• Experience architecting high-concurrency environments using RabbitMQ or similar brokers.

Responsibilities

• Act as the lead architectural voice for the HRIS domain and own the platform's technical integrity.
• Partner with the Director of Engineering and Product Management to align technical capabilities with business goals.
• Produce high-level designs, sequence diagrams, and interface definitions to guide five engineering teams.
• Define and maintain Golden Paths and shared libraries for consistent engineering standards.
• Lead architectural reviews and mentor Lead/Senior Developers to adhere to enterprise design patterns.
• Establish AI strategy and governance for integrating AI tools and LLM capabilities into the SDLC.
