Job summary

Knexus Research Corporation is seeking a Senior AI Software Engineer to lead end-to-end AI-powered software development for government and enterprise clients. You will drive architectural decisions, implement modular RESTful microservices, and oversee production GenAI features in a fully remote, EST-aligned role across the continental U.S.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in software development, deep OO design, and a track record of owning systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience with ownership of end-to-end systems.
• Mastery in object-oriented design and programming; knowledge of design patterns and algorithmic analysis.
• Proficiency in Python; experience with JavaScript/TypeScript/C++ is a plus.
• GenAI experience building/operating LLM-powered applications, including evaluation and deployment paths.
• Experience leading technical decisions in a small, remote team; management experience not required.
• U.S. citizen and eligible for government security clearance (Secret); active or prior Secret preferred.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: design, implement, and test AI-enabled software systems; guide technical direction.
• Architecture and Modular Systems: own modular design within a distributed RESTful microservices architecture.
• GenAI in Production: orchestrate, test, and evolve LLM-backed features without rewrites.
• Performance Optimization: analyze runtime performance; implement algorithmic improvements with measurable results.
• Engineering Practices: apply Agile methods, set design review/testing/delivery expectations.
• Mentorship: guide engineers on OO design, algorithms, and production use of LLMs; this is a senior IC role.
