Job summary

Reed Smith LLP is seeking an IP Specialist to support data management, audits, and docketing for patent and trademark matters. You will review, download, scan and code documents per policies and assist with client transfers and records handling.

The role requires 3–5 years in patent prosecution, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Word, Excel, and records management systems. Remote work is available with occasional in-office requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Three to five years of patent prosecution experience, both foreign and domestic (U.S.).
• Experience in intellectual property within a law firm or corporate in-house environment.

Responsibilities

• Proficient with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Review, process and docket incoming and outgoing communications for patent and trademark matters.
• Utilize records management software and update systems with current data.
• Support IP practice group with data audit projects in Digital File, PATTSYWAVE and PracticeLink to ensure information aligns.
• Assist with IP client portal setup and maintenance.
• Create docket reports and data extracts on request.
• Assist the docketing manager with software implementation projects, focusing on data auditing.
