Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to translate aggressive state and product expansion into filing-ready policy language. You will anchor either personal auto or property forms and serve as the drafting owner for your line, as well as advise on form wording for regulatory matters.

You will research statutes, draft forms, respond to DOI objections, and collaborate with Claims, Product, and Customer Experience to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance across states.

Qualifications

• Must have JD and 5+ years of experience drafting policy forms across states.
• Experience drafting personal auto or property policy forms is required.
• Ability to translate statutes into clear, filing-ready form language.
• Provide regulatory responses and guidance to internal teams (Claims, Product, Customer Experience).
• Establish standards and reusable language for multi-state form packages.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and regulations and translate into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to regulator objections and advocate Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation and form wording to internal partners.
• Draft new state and product forms packages, including base policies, endorsements, notices ready for filing.
• Perform first-pass legal review and escalate novel state law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel.
• Build and maintain countrywide base forms and state kits for your line.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language to speed up future state packages.
• Design and deliver internal training on policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
