Job summary

UCHealth is seeking an experienced Coder Inpatient to join the Inpatient Coding department. This fully remote role involves assigning ICD-10 and PCS codes for diagnoses and procedures, collaborating with physicians and CDI, and ensuring accuracy across the patient stay.

AAPC/AHIMA certification is required, with CCS preferred for advancement. Location is 100% remote for eligible candidates; in-state or out-of-state applicants may be considered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Coding-related certification from AHIMA or AAPC.
• Preferred CCS Certification.
• 1 year of Inpatient coding experience OR 3 years of Outpatient coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews account day after admission and assigns appropriate ICD-10 and PCS codes. Review accounts through out the stay and updates coding as documentation is added.
• Collaborates with physicians, CDI, and Quality to ensure accurate and complete coding, and to capture any quality measures needed.
• Partner with Compliance and department committee's to clarify any coding issues.
• Enhances coding knowledge and skills with continuing education activities and by reviewing pertinent literature.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
