Job summary

Signature Performance is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder to perform ICD-10-CM diagnosis and ICD-10-PCS procedure coding for complex inpatient discharges. The coder will review provider notes, apply POA values, and collaborate with the CDI team to ensure accurate MS-DRG timing and reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years' experience in an Academic Medical Center with inpatient coding experience.
• Certified credentials CCS/CIC/RHIA/RHIT are required.
• Excellent computer/communication skills for interactions with providers and staff.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes for complex inpatient discharges.
• Determine Present on Admission (POA) values for secondary diagnoses.
• Review provider notes and CDI department findings for clinical insight.
• Use 3M 360 CAC to review documentation and code selection.
• Validate Discharge Disposition impacting Medicare reimbursement.
• Sequence ICD-10-CM codes within top 24 fields for MS-DRG/APR-DRG accuracy.
• Collaborate with CDI on discharge DRG decisions and comorbidities.
• Educate CDI on coding guidelines and conventions.
