Job summary

Signature Performance seeks an experienced Inpatient Medical Coder to assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for complex inpatient discharges. The role requires deep clinical knowledge, adherence to Official Guidelines, and collaboration with the CDI team.

Remote-based position nationwide with a focus on accuracy, productivity, and quality. Candidates should have Academic Medical Center inpatient coding experience and active CCS/CIC/RHIA/RHIT credentials.

Qualifications

• Three years of inpatient coding experience in an Academic Medical Center.
• Current CCS, CIC, RHIA, or RHIT certification.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding conventions and Official Guidelines.
• Experience with 3M 360 CAC software and coding workflows.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent computer and communication skills for provider and staff interactions.
• Experience writing appeal letters in response to payor DRG downgrades.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for complex inpatient visits.
• Review provider notes and CDI findings to ensure accurate diagnoses.
• Utilize 3M 360 CAC to review documentation and apply autosuggestions.
• Validate discharge disposition per Medicare policies and reporting.
• Collaborate with CDI on discharge DRG determinations and comorbidities.
• Educate CDI on Coding Clinics, guidelines, and conventions.
• Interpret documentation to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Follow ICD-10-CM/PCS Official Guidelines and Coding Clinic guidance.
