Job summary

Signature Performance is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder to remotely assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for complex inpatient discharges. You will review clinical documentation, collaborate with the CDI team, and ensure compliance with official guidelines to support accurate MS-DRG and APR DRG reporting.

The role requires deep knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology, with emphasis on documentation review and coding conventions. Remote work available nationwide.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years' inpatient coding experience in an Academic Medical Center.
• Current CCS, CIC, RHIA, or RHIT certification.
• Excellent computer and communication skills for provider and staff interactions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and adherence to client SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for complex inpatient discharges.
• Determine POA values for secondary diagnoses for quality metrics.
• Review provider notes and CDI insights to ensure accurate coding.
• Utilize 3M 360 CAC for efficient documentation review and coding.
• Educate CDI on regulatory guidelines and Coding Clinics.
• Write appeal letters in response to payor DRG downgrades.
• Meet established coding productivity and quality standards.
