Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a full-time inpatient DRG coder with strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG coding in an acute care setting. The role supports coding accuracy, compliance with guidelines, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC) renewed annually.
• 3+ years of inpatient DRG coding experience in an acute care facility.
• 3+ years of ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS and DRG coding experience using an encoder.
• Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Excel; comfortable with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate assignment of ICD-10 CM/PCS, DRG, and abstraction for facility services according to guidelines.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge in Inpatient DRG Coding.
• Abstract data during chart reviews as needed.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per department standards.
• Query physicians when appropriate and stay updated on coding knowledge.
