Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced inpatient coders for a fully remote position. The role requires proficiency in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS, with a focus on accurate sequencing and abstraction of codes from patient records.

You will oversee Level 1 & 2 coders, drive documentation improvement, and maintain high accuracy and productivity benchmarks. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of inpatient coding experience, AHIMA certifications preferred, and strong communication skills to collaborate

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience at a Level I Trauma Center
• CCS, RHIT, or RHIA preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
• Accurately sequence and abstract medical codes from patient records, ensuring precision and adherence to documentation
• Oversee and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders, where applicable
• Champion documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues, facilitating resolution with relevant stakeholders
• Uphold an overall 95% coding accuracy rate and a 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignments
• Maintain site-specific productivity benchmarks
• Foster professional communication with colleagues, management, and hospital staff, while addressing clinical and reimbursement issues
