Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced inpatient coders for a fully remote position. The role emphasizes precise ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, auditing, and collaboration with hospital teams. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years in inpatient coding, with CCS/RHIT/RHIA preferred, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of inpatient coding experience
• CCS, RHIT, or RHIA preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• AHIMA-certified HIM or Nursing program is preferred
• 3+ years inpatient coding at Level I Trauma Center is a plus
• Experience with coding quality review feedback
• Experience in computerized encoding and abstracting software

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
• Accurately sequence and abstract codes from patient records
• Oversee and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders
• Champion documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues
• Uphold 95% coding accuracy and 95% MS-DRG accuracy
• Maintain site-specific productivity benchmarks
• Foster professional communication with colleagues, management and hospital staff
