Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for 100% remote work. The role requires at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and CCS certification, with 3 years of OP coding preferred.

You will work on ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding and DRG assignments, across inpatient and outpatient accounts. Responsibilities include reviewing records, ensuring 95% accuracy, maintaining productivity, and pursuing ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of inpatient PCS coding experience.
• CCS certification is required.
• At least 3 years of outpatient coding preferred.
• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS.
• Strong knowledge of DRG assignments.

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses.
• Accurately sequence diagnoses and procedures, maintaining 95% accuracy.
• Strive for optimal DRG assignments on every record coded with the computer system.
• Maintain a steady level of productivity and quality.
• Horizon for more information when coding requires additional details; contact staff as needed.
• Regularly review coding literature and stay current on guidelines.
• Complete assignments as directed by management with reliability.
• Pursue continuing education.
• Work as a team member to meet department goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
