Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote, full-time position. Applicants must have at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and CCS certification, with OP experience preferred. A coding assessment will be required for consideration.

The role requires meticulous attention to ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, and DRG assignments, using Cerner, PowerChart, 3M, or EPIC systems. Immediate start date and weekday schedule with regular day shifts.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience required.
• At least 3 years OP coding experience preferred.
• CCS certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures to support accurate DRG assignments.
• Aim for optimal DRG assignments with system-assisted coding.
• Maintain a steady level of productivity and accuracy.
• Seek additional information when needed to ensure accurate coding/DRG.
• Keep current on coding guidelines and share updates with colleagues.
• Complete assignments as directed by management.
• Pursue continuing education opportunities.
• Collaborate with team to meet department and client goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
