Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote, full-time position. The role requires at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and CCS certification; OP experience is preferred.

A coding assessment will be required as part of the application process. The coder will handle both inpatient and outpatient accounts, utilizing ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS CPT coding references to ensure accurate submissions.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience.
• CCS certificate required.
• At least 3 years OP coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures correctly to support accurate DRG assignments.
• Strive for optimal DRG assignments with input from the coding system.
• Maintain consistent productivity and quality levels.
• Contact staff or leadership when additional information is needed for accurate codes/DRG.
• Stay current with coding guidelines and share updates with colleagues.
• Complete all assignments as directed by management.
• Pursue continuing education and professional development.
• Collaborate as a team to meet department and client goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
