Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote, full-time role. The candidate should have at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and 3 years of OP coding experience preferred. A coding assessment will be required on application.

The coder will utilize ICD-10-CM and PCS, HCPCS CPT as needed, and work with systems such as Cerner, PowerChart, 3M, and EPIC to ensure accurate coding and DRG assignments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IP PCS coding experience.
• CCS certificate is required.
• 3+ years OP coding experience preferred.
• Position is 100% remote with full-time hours.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses and procedures with high accuracy.
• Aims for optimal DRG assignments with system assistance.
• Maintains consistent performance and productivity while ensuring quality.
• Holds accounts when more information is needed for accurate coding and coordinates with staff.
• Keeps current on coding guidelines and shares updates with colleagues.
• Completes assignments as directed by management and maintains reliability.
• Pursues continuing education to stay certified.
• Works as a team member to meet client goals and departmental targets.
• Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
