Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a fully remote role. The position requires at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and a CCS certificate, with 3+ years OP coding preferred.

Willingness to complete coding assessments is expected as part of the process. The coder will handle both inpatient and outpatient accounts, using ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS CPT, and other coding references to ensure accurate coding and DRG assignments in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• IP PCS coding experience of 5+ years.
• OP coding 3+ years preferred.
• CCS certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses and procedures, maintaining 95% accuracy.
• Aims for optimal DRG assignments on each coded record with system assistance.
• Demonstrates consistent performance, balancing productivity and quality.
• Holds accounts when more information is needed for accurate code/DRG assignment; liaises with staff as needed.
• Regularly reviews coding literature and stays current on guidelines; shares with colleagues.
• Completes assignments as directed by management reliably.
• Shows interest in continuing education and professional growth.
• Works as a team member to meet department and client goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
