Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote role. The candidate should have at least 5 years IP PCS coding experience and 3 years OP coding preferred, with CCS certification required. Start date is immediate, with day-shift hours on weekdays and W2 regular employment.

The coder will work with ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS CPT, and coding references to ensure accurate coding and DRG assignments, collaborating with the coding team and medical staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years IP PCS coding experience.
• CCS certification is required.
• At least 3 years OP coding experience preferred.
• Regular day shift, full-time hours; weekdays.

Responsibilities

• Examine medical records to determine diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures for accurate coding.
• Aim for optimal DRG assignments with system support.
• Maintain consistent productivity and quality.
• Hold accounts when more information is needed; coordinate with staff.
• Stay current with coding guidelines and share updates.
• Complete assignments as directed by management.
• Pursue continuing education opportunities.
• Collaborate with team to meet goals.
• Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
