Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote position. The role requires at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience, CCS certification, and completion of coding assessments.

The shift is regular day hours on weekdays, with a W2 regular employment arrangement. Proficiency with ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS CPT, plus familiarity with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M and EPIC, is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of inpatient PCS coding experience.
• CCS certification is required (CCS).
• Experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding.

Responsibilities

• Examine complete medical records to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately sequence diagnoses and procedures; target 95% accuracy.
• Aim for optimal DRG assignments with system assistance.
• Maintain steady productivity and coding quality.
• Hold accounts when information is insufficient; escalate as needed.
• Keep current with coding guidelines; share findings with team.
• Complete assignments as directed by management.
• Pursue continuing education opportunities.
• Collaborate as a team to meet goals.
• Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
