Job summary

Signature Performance is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder who thrives on interpreting health record documentation to assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and ICD-10-PCS procedures for complex inpatient discharges.

You will collaborate with the CDI team, utilize 3M 360 CAC, and ensure adherence to Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, delivering accurate MS-DRG/APR-DRG determinations while maintaining productivity and quality.

Qualifications

• Three years' inpatient coding experience, preferably in an academic medical center.
• Current CCS, CIC, RHIA, or RHIT certification.
• Excellent computer/communication skills for provider and staff interactions.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Follow client SOPs and maintain organizational discipline.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for complex inpatient discharges.
• Review provider notes and CDI input for accurate coding.
• Utilize 3M 360 CAC for autosuggestion or annotation features.
• Validate Discharge Disposition impacting Medicare reimbursement.
• Collaborate with CDI on ~45% of discharges for DRG and comorbidity diagnoses.
• Educate CDI on regulatory guidelines and coding clinics.
• Write appeal letters in response to payor DRG downgrades.
• Meet established coding productivity and quality standards.
