Virtua Health is seeking a hospital medical records coder to accurately code and abstract records for inpatient, observation, outpatient surgery, invasive outpatients, and Emergency Department encounters. You will apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT-4, and encoder rules in line with UHDDS and AHA guidelines.

You will collaborate with medical staff and CDI colleagues to clarify documentation and ensure compliant, timely DRG assignments.

Qualificações

• Minimum of two years inpatient records coding experience or equivalent.
• Proficient in a Microsoft Windows environment.
• Detail oriented and able to perform tasks with high accuracy.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Previous experience with an electronic legal health record system preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Code inpatient, observation, outpatient surgery, invasive outpatients, and emergency department records using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT-4 and encoder.
• Sequence principal diagnosis and procedures per UHDDS definitions.
• Validate DRG assignments using DRG knowledge.
• Adhere to federal and state regulations for data abstraction and coding.
• Enter data accurately into the computer system and maintain downtime procedures as needed.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.
