Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to review medical records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4 and encoder codes for inpatient, observation, outpatient surgery and ED encounters.

The role emphasizes adherence to AHA, AHIMA, UHDDS guidelines, DRG validation, and data integrity. Two years of inpatient coding experience and CCS certification requirements are noted; part-time hours may apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years inpatient records coding experience.
• Knowledge of Anatomy & physiology/medical terminology required.
• AHIMA Certification: CCS required for hires after 10/1/2025.

Responsibilities

• Review records and code diagnoses/procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4 and encoder.
• Code Inpatient, Observation, Outpatient Surgery, and ED records.
• Ensure coding aligns with AHA, AHIMA, UHDDS guidelines and internal rules.
• Abstract data accurately into the computer system and support DRG assignments.
• Participate in DRG validation and compliance activities.
