Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a part-time Coding Specialist to accurately code hospital records using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4 and encoder. This role supports inpatient, observation, ED encounters and DRG validation, with a focus on accuracy and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years inpatient coding experience, strong attention to detail, and good teamwork. Remote-friendly position with onsite testing in Marlton, NJ, and part-time schedule of 20 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years inpatient records coding experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment and coding tools.
• Experience with an electronic health record system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately reviews records and codes diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4 and encoder.
• Sequences principal diagnosis and procedures per UHDDS definitions.
• Verifies DRG assignments and maintains compliant coding practices.
• Records abstracted include inpatient, observation, and ED encounters.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and department goals.
