Virtua Health is seeking a remote Coding Specialist to review inpatient, observation, and outpatient records using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT-4, and UHDDS guidelines. The role supports accuracy and compliance across multiple care settings and works within our Health Information Management team.

Requirements include two years of inpatient coding experience, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Two years inpatient records coding experience required.
• Detail oriented with high accuracy.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with electronic health record systems preferred.
• CCS certification requirement for hires after 2025.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient, observation, outpatient records per AHA/AHIMA/UHDDS rules.
• Identify principal diagnoses and procedures per documentation.
• Validate DRG assignments using DRG knowledge.
• Ensure data elements comply with federal and state rules.
• Document and abstract data into the hospital EHR system.
• Support performance improvement and departmental goals.
