Job summary

Datavant is seeking an Inpatient Auditing Specialist to address coding quality, compliance reviews, and external payer audits. This fully remote role offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to shape healthcare from your workspace, with additional PRN IA IP auditing support and spinal experience a plus, 20 hours/week preferred.

You will audit inpatient facility codes using MS DRG/APR DRGs, provide clear rationales, stay current on regulation, and educate coders while upholding AHIMA

Qualifications

• 5+ years inpatient coding or auditing experience.
• CCS certification is required; RHIA/RHIT preferred.
• Maintain 95% DRG accuracy rate.
• Experience with Epic, Cerner, and other prevalent EMRs.

Responsibilities

• Performs inpatient facility coding audits according to scope of work, using MS DRG or APR DRGs.
• Provides rich and concise rationale explaining the reasoning behind any identified changes, including references and documentation location.
• Keeps abreast of regulatory changes.
• Organizes and prioritizes multiple cases concurrently to ensure workflow and turnaround time.
• Provides coder education via the auditing process.
• Function in a professional, efficient, and positive manner.
• Adhere to the AHIMA code of ethics.
• Must be customer-service focused and exhibit professionalism, flexibility, dependability, desire to learn and commitment to excellence.
• High complexity of work function and decision making.
• Strong organizational, teamwork, and leadership skills.
