Job summary

Datavant is seeking an Inpatient Auditing Specialist to conduct inpatient facility coding audits, provide rationale for changes, and educate coders. This fully remote role supports onboarding and ongoing audits with exposure to spinal/IP auditing and 20 hours/week preferred.

The position requires 5+ years of inpatient coding/auditing, CCS certification, and experience with Epic/Cerner EMRs. Flexible schedule and PRN support available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of inpatient facility coding experience and/or auditing.
• CCS is required; RHIA or RHIT preferred.
• Experience with Epic, Cerner, and other EMRs.

Responsibilities

• Performs inpatient facility coding audits per scope of work using MS-DRG or APR DRGs.
• Provides concise rationale with references and documentation locations.
• Keeps up with regulatory changes and maintains audits workflow.
• Organizes and prioritizes multiple cases to ensure timely turnaround.
• Provides coder education through the auditing process.
• Adheres to AHIMA code of ethics and maintains professionalism.
• Demonstrates strong organizational, teamwork, and leadership skills.
