Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. is hiring for a remote Inpatient Hospital Coder in the Appeals & Denials Department. You will identify and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient accounts and ensure CPT-4 coding on observation accounts when applicable, supporting accurate claims submission.

The ideal candidate holds RHIT, RHIA or CCS credentials, 3–5 years coding experience, strong communication, and can work independently with minimal supervision using a computerized encoder and EHR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• RHIT, RHIA or CCS certification preferred.
• 3–5 years of coding experience in inpatient/hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient accounts.
• Apply CPT-4 coding on observation accounts when applicable.
• Verify and submit abstracted information to billing for claims submission.
• Maintain coding accuracy to support A/R goals.
• Collaborate with CDI, HIM, and management; provide mentorship and auditing support.
