Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced inpatient coders to join our remote team. You will assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS, sequence and abstract records, and support quality in a dynamic healthcare data platform.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of inpatient coding experience, CCS/RHIT/RHIA preferred, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently from home while meeting productivity targets.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding facility experience.
• CCS, RHIT, or RHIA preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
• Accurately sequence and abstract medical codes from patient records, ensuring precision and adherence to documentation
• Oversee and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders, where applicable
• Champion documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues, facilitating resolution with relevant stakeholders
• Uphold an overall 95% coding accuracy rate and a 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignments
• Maintain site-specific productivity benchmarks
• Foster professional communication with colleagues, management, and hospital staff, while addressing clinical and reimbursement issues
