Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to join our remote team. You will assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, sequence and abstract from patient records, and support coding accuracy targets across the organization.

The role requires at least 3 years of inpatient coding experience, with CCS/RHIT/RHIA preferred. You will mentor Level 1 & 2 Coders and collaborate with hospital staff to improve documentation and reimbursement processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of inpatient coding facility experience.
• CCS/RHIT/RHIA preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.
• Sequence and abstract codes from patient records with precision.
• Oversee and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders where applicable.
• Champion documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues with stakeholders.
• Maintain site-specific productivity benchmarks and accuracy targets (95% for coding and MS-DRG).
• Communicate professionally with colleagues, management, and hospital staff.
