Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to perform all services of IP coding, ensuring DRG accuracy and timely coding.

The role involves working with the CDI team and other departments to improve utilization and maintain privacy and security standards. The coder will utilize ICD-10-CM/PCS coding systems, including the 3M Encoder, and must have advanced medical coding training and AHIMA or AAPC credentials.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or Higher Education required.
• Certification: AHIMA RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCA; or AAPC Coding Certification required.
• Degree (Medical Records or Healthcare related field) or Coding Education Certificate from an accredited vocational school/college preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs coding of inpatient records, including DRG assignment and validation.
• Maintains knowledge of outpatient coding and other areas to assist as needed.
• Uses the 3M Encoder to classify medical records accurately per ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Maintains performance skills and ensures timeliness and accuracy of coding.
