Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, through Optum360, is seeking a skilled inpatient DRG coder for a full-time, remote role within the United States. The position emphasizes ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, DRG abstraction, and adherence to coding guidelines in a fast-paced environment.

You will maintain AHIMA/AAPC credentialing, work with EMR systems and Excel, and participate in coding department meetings to ensure high-quality, compliant coding practices.

Qualifications

• Inpatient DRG coding experience in acute care.
• ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding experience using encoder.
• AHIMA/AAPC credential maintenance required.
• HighSchool Diploma or GED or higher.
• Proficiency with Windows PC and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10 CM/PCS, DRG assignment and abstraction per guidelines.
• Expert knowledge in Inpatient DRG Coding.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review when coding.
• Adhere to ethical coding standards per AAPC/AHIMA.
• Maintain performance levels for coding quality and productivity.
• Query physicians when appropriate.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge and participate in meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
