You will review inpatient records, annotate codes, ensure accuracy, and apply POA indicators to improve coding quality for AI evaluation. This freelance engagement is fully remote for U.S.-based professionals, offering $50-$70 per hour.

Qualifikationen

• Active AHIMA CCS or AAPC CIC credential.
• Strong experience in inpatient medical coding and clinical documentation review.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding and ICD-10-PCS procedure coding.
• Demonstrated expertise in MS-DRG assignment and inpatient classification methodology.
• Familiarity with UHDDS definitions and inpatient coding conventions.
• Experience interpreting ICD-10-CM/PCS Official Guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic guidance.
• Ability to identify documentation inconsistencies and resolve complex coding questions.

Aufgaben

• Review inpatient medical records, including admission notes, progress notes, consultation reports, and discharge summaries.
• Annotate medical records using appropriate diagnostic and procedural coding classifications.
• Identify incomplete, ambiguous, or inconsistent clinical information affecting coding accuracy.
• Assign and validate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and ICD-10-PCS inpatient procedure codes.
• Evaluate MS-DRG assignments and verify consistency with documented diagnoses and procedures.
• Apply Present on Admission (POA) indicators to relevant diagnoses.
• Provide structured written feedback explaining coding discrepancies and recommended corrections.
