Job summary

RemoteJobsOne is seeking a Medical Coder (CCS/CIC) for a fully remote contractor role in the United States. You will apply inpatient coding expertise (ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG) to annotate records for AI training, ensuring high-quality data and compliance with coding guidelines.

Responsibilities include identifying principal/secondary diagnoses, POA indicators, and accurate DRG assignments, while collaborating with stakeholders and delivering clear coding outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active AHIMA CCS or AAPC CIC credential is required.
• Strong expertise in ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS and MS-DRG methods with inpatient coding experience.
• Experience coding in diverse inpatient settings (acute care, teaching hospitals, surgical, trauma, oncology, cardiology, transplant).
• Proficiency in reviewing and coding clinical documentation and tackling complex coding challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
• Access to current ICD-10-CM/PCS code sets, Official Guidelines, and MS-DRG tools.

Responsibilities

• Annotate and review inpatient records with accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding.
• Determine principal/secondary diagnoses and sequence codes per guidelines.
• Assign POA indicators and validate MS-DRG, including CCs/MCCs.
• Adhere to UHDDS definitions and AHA Coding Clinic guidance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure data integrity.
• Provide feedback to improve coding guidelines and AI model understanding.
