Job summary

Weekday seeks an experienced Medical Coder with CCS or CIC certification to support AI annotation projects. You will review inpatient records, assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, and validate MS-DRG classifications to enhance AI understanding of clinical documentation.

This contractor role emphasizes precision, adherence to UHDDS and coding guidelines, POA indicators, and collaboration with stakeholders. Remote work from the United States is supported.

Qualifications

• Active CCS or CIC certification.
• Strong inpatient coding experience with clinical documentation review.
• Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.
• Proficiency in MS-DRG methodology, diagnosis sequencing, and principal diagnosis selection.
• Familiarity with POA indicators, CCs, MCCs, UHDDS definitions, and inpatient guidelines.
• Ability to interpret complex documentation and translate into correct codes.
• Knowledge of AHA Coding Clinic guidance and current standards.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient Medical Record Review: identify diagnoses/procedures from admission to discharge.
• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes based on documentation and official guidelines.
• Determine principal and secondary diagnoses and sequencing.
• Review MS-DRG assignments including CCs/MCCs.
• Assign and validate Present on Admission (POA) indicators.
• Apply UHDDS definitions and coding conventions.
• Identify HACs and patient safety indicators where applicable.
• Annotate and evaluate data to support AI training and model evaluation.
• Resolve coding ambiguities and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Communicate with stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure data integrity.
