Job summary

Fairview is seeking a Coder 4 for our Inpatient Coding team. This full-time role (80 hours per pay period) offers the flexibility to work in a virtual environment while staying connected with the coding team and partners across the organization.

The ideal candidate has hospital-based inpatient coding experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG assignment, and the ability to query physicians to support accurate coding and compliant documentation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of inpatient coding experience.
• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CIC or equivalent certification preferred.
• Certificate in coding or an associate degree in HIM.
• Basic knowledge of Windows-based software and CEU tracking.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient records using ICD-10-CM/PCS per guidelines and MS-DRG rules.
• Resolve documentation discrepancies to ensure accuracy in SOI/ROM and POA indicators.
• Initiate provider queries to improve code specificity and documentation quality.
• Validate CAC/CAC outputs and support timely revenue cycle processing.
• Educate and collaborate with clinicians on documentation and coding standards.
