Job summary

UHS subsidiaries are seeking an Inpatient Coding Specialist to perform inpatient coding, DRG assignment, and ensure accuracy and timeliness of coding. You will use the 3M Encoder and collaborate with the CDI team, Case Management, and the Business Office.

Remote work is available, with required high-speed internet and a private workspace compliant with privacy and security policies. Inpatient coding credentials and AHIMA/AAPC certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Three to five years coding experience, inpatient preferred.
• Advanced training in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and APC.
• Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology knowledge.
• Computer skills; proficient with coding software and EHRs.
• Ability to read medical reports, interpret labs, and abstract pertinent information for inquiries.
• Ability to work remotely with a home setup meeting privacy and security requirements.
• Commitment to the organization’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient records and assign DRGs with accuracy.
• Maintain timeliness and consistency in coding processes.
• Utilize the 3M Encoder for classification.
• Coordinate with Coding Manager/Supervisor, CDI team, Business Office and Case Management.
• Assist with outpatient coding as needed.
